Tar & Chip by Triple M Paving & Excavating

Why Choose Tar & Chip?

Many homeowners and private road owners choose this method for its balance of beauty and budget.

  • Cost-Effective: typically costs less to install than hot-mix asphalt.

  • Superior Traction: The textured surface provides better grip in snow, rain, and ice—ideal for our local winters.

  • Natural Aesthetic: The stone finish offers a rustic, "country road" look that complements long driveways and rural estates.

  • Low Maintenance: It does not require regular sealcoating. In hot weather, the tar can re-seal minor cracks automatically.

Our Installation Process

We don't cut corners. We ensure your surface is built to last using our "Design with Excellence" standard.

  1. Site Preparation: We grade the surface to ensure proper drainage and install a sturdy gravel base if required.

  2. Liquid Asphalt Application: We spray a heavy coat of hot liquid asphalt using specialized distributors to ensure even coverage.

  3. Stone Spreading: A layer of clean, angular stone chips is immediately spread over the hot tar.

  4. Compaction: We use a heavy roller to embed the stones firmly into the asphalt, locking them in place to create a hardened surface.
